Tracing our Footprints:

Action for Community Development (ACODEV) started in Kasese as a Community Based Organization in response to contributing to the alleviation of challenges created by HIV/AIDS scourge and mitigating the adverse effects of war both perpetrated in Uganda and the spillovers from across the border in Eastern Congo in 2003.

2003

Kasese: Where it all began

Kasese is a town north of Lake George in the Western Region of Uganda. It originally grew around the copper mine at Kilembe, while attention later turned to cobalt mining. It is the chief town of Kasese District, and the district headquarters are located there. Kasese is also the largest town in the Rwenzururu region.

At ACODEV, we value and adopt the understanding by the World Health Organization that Reproductive Health implies that people are able to have a responsible, satisfying and safer sex life and that they have the capability to reproduce and the freedom to decide if, when and how often to do so..
